A simple way to calm down

One way to slow down through breath is a counting breath technique. It's so simple and you can do it almost anywhere. I'd suggest you do it with your eyes closed if possible (but if you can't, it still works).


  • Inhale slowly for a count of five

  • Hold for a count of five

  • Exhale for a count of five

  • Hold for a count of five


Repeat this a few times. If you have more time, you could set a timer and do this as a meditation. If you only have a minute or two, just doing a few rounds of breathing this way, should help calm you down.
